How to implement Amazon Lightsail

  1. Select a Region, platform blueprint, and instance bundle, then launch and connect to the instance.
  2. Attach a static IP, configure the Lightsail firewall, point DNS, and add HTTPS through a distribution or load balancer when the workload is public.
  3. Schedule snapshots, monitor resource metrics, and add a load balancer or managed database when availability and data requirements increase.

Amazon Lightsail best practices

  • Open only required firewall ports, use key-based administration where available, and keep the operating system and application patched.
  • Take regular snapshots and test restoration before upgrades or major configuration changes.
  • Use a load balancer with multiple instances for availability, and reassess EC2 or other AWS services when networking, governance, or scaling needs outgrow Lightsail abstractions.
